This way SmoothCam has to go through the cuts and sometimes gets a bit messy.
The Media Manager way lets apply the filter just to the media you selected and adjust the filter for each clip.

The analysis is performed on the entire media file…so even if you are stablizing a 5 second clip from a 1 hour piece of media, it analyzes the whole 1 hour. The workaround suggested in the FCP manual is to export a self contained movie containing only the clip you want to stabilize. Reimport that and run the analysis. It will be much faster. You might also want to make a self contained movie of the stabilized shot, as any alteration of it will cause the analysis to have be done over.

I’ve run into this anomaly with iTunes too, if I switch between FCP and iTunes.
If I am doing something tedious in FCP that doesn’t require audio monitoring, and I want to listen to music, I just use my ipod now.

EDL’s are a nightmare. Its 30+ year old technology trying to interpret what you are doing in FCP. You are asking for trouble… especially if it requires more than one video track or speed changes.
If you care about your film, you should purchase Automatic Duck for this…or find a post house that has it and can do the conversion from FCP to Avid for you. Its the only real way to do this.

The 24 bit setting is only helpful with equipment that works at 24 bit. I believe Digital Betacam is 20 bit, so you have not been compromising your audio.

Try changing your project temporarily to SD

I think thats how its always worked. It only references video files…the audio is built into the file.

Use Spotlight to search your Documents folder for Invisible items larger than 1GB and see what it finds.

720×480 “Is this a typo? The CCIR 601 preset should be 720 x 486. The dimensions you state (720 x 480) are for DV-NTSC. If you mix them up, FCP will resize the text causing softness.
Sorry if this isn’t your problem. Trust me, Live Type should be creating sharp looking text.
