What bit rate did you encode at? Did you encode your audio to AC3

Pretty much all PAL tv’s and DVD players play NTSC. If she has a problem , you can use the Nattress Standards Converter plugin ($99) or Compressor (extremely slow, but free and good quality) to convert to PAL and make a PAL DVD.

Coming from an Avid background, you might not be aware of Compositing Modes, which Kevin is referring to. Just Right or Control click on the clip and select it.

You could also convert it to Avid’s DVCPRO HD codec, which they call DV100.
Its basically a rewrap of the regular Quicktime codec, so it should be fairly quick. Make sure you get all the settings right. The Avid codec interface is pretty clunky and you have to go into options to select everything.Then you are at least not taking the compression hit to DNXHD. (which is small, but combined with the HDCAM compression, you will be triple compressing)

You can’t do this with final cut or compressor. FCS does not support any custom sizes for mpeg 1….only the standard size which is much much smaller. Search the archive for suggestions on 3rd party encoders

You get around the 2GB limit on Avid by linking to media instead of embedding it in the file. That option is not available on FCP

Being that its only a short spot, you have the luxury of trying both ways..
As for conforming with Cinema Tools…. this only works correctly if your material was 23.98. If it really was 60i, your motion might not look right.
There is also the $99 plugin from Nattress (https://www.nattress.com).
I have found that Compressor does a nice job with this if you get all the settings right. With some material “Better” yields better results than “Best”.
