I have seen this behavior on all versions since version 5.0.

its essential that any low res copies have the same timecode as your hi res versions and that you have a sensible organizing structure. The reel name is more important for FCP. I don’t think Avid even sees the QT embedded reel name.
e-mail the author of QT change, if you have questions. He is very knowledgable and responsive.

You can’t do it all in one step.
Send your timeline to Compressor and create a 1080i 50 ProRes version of it.
Turn on the Frame Controls and set the rate conversion to Best.Take the resulting file and select an appropriate DVD preset, which will downconvert and make a PAL MPEG2 file and also an AC3 file for your audio.

For the most part the two cards use all the same codecs, so its probably a settings issue.
You haven’t posted any, so I have no idea.

AMA is much faster to transcode to Avid DNX or other resolutions than straight old school import. Allows for more options when transcoding and relinking.
You might want to look at getting QTChange from VideoToolshed to add time of day timecode to the movie files from the Canon THM files. Avid appears to derive timecode on 5D footage from the file creation time/date, which is different and can be a problem under certain conditions.

You should not be getting that kind of degradation with Animation.
Are your frame sizes set correctly? Field order (if any) ?
Anyway..if you can find an upgrade to Studio 3, you can use ProRes 4444, which has support for Alpha Channels and keys in real time in FCP. I would not pay for an upgrade to Studio 3, though, as with the arrival of FCP-X, its a dead product.

Also, repair permissions on your boot disk using Disk Utility.

Just open and Cinema Tools and use the conform feature.
It will conform the footage instantly to 25 fps. The motion will be smooth.Since the audio is not important, you don’t have to worry about pitch shift. The audio track (if there is one) will have it’s sample rate changed to a slightly odd one and you may see a render bar. Either delete the audio track or render it, if you want to use it.

Just taking a guess…try changing the location of the watermark file.
Is it in the same location as the source video file? If not, try putting it there. -
Sorry you are still having trouble.
This seems very similar to my now resolved problem. I still think it’s related to permissions as Lion has changed the default permissions for certain folders in the system. Note that the User Library folder is now invisible by default. I think the program and the installer needs to have read/write access to something and doesn’t have it.
This is getting a bit over my pay grade…have you contacted Adobe support?
