How to burn a PAL DVD with 1920 x 1080 60i AVCHD footage?

I have done this successfully the other way round, ie from 1080 50i pal to NTSC DVD.

For you, i think the best way would be to send to compressor and choose dvd preset, then modify the preset so your video format is PAL and frames are 25.
Audio is the same for both formats, ie AC3

Appreciate its not directly answering your question Bill, but you might want to suggest / offer up a regular NTSC DVD for refusal first … pretty much most (all?) PAL DVD players will work with that just fine. Certainly in my PAL neck of the woods I can’t remember the last time I saw TV, DVD Player etc that wasn’t multisystem.

You can’t do it all in one step.

Send your timeline to Compressor and create a 1080i 50 ProRes version of it.
Turn on the Frame Controls and set the rate conversion to Best.

Take the resulting file and select an appropriate DVD preset, which will downconvert and make a PAL MPEG2 file and also an AC3 file for your audio.
