Actually that one might do the trick with a little editing. I’m all ears if anyone has a better one though.

Hi,
A lot of guys are using the Zoom now with that camera. What a lot of them are doing that might save you loads of time is as follows:
1. Hook your mics up to the XLR inputs on the Zoom.
2. Get a cable that fits in the headphone output on the Zoom and the other end plugs into the 5D. This cable should have a built in level pad to lower the volume of the headphone output. (The guys I’ve heard about doing this all have pads built into this cable and it costs about $40 they tell me.) This cable is like a mini plug to whatever plug the 5D jack takes.
Then you don’t have to worry about syncing stuff up later, it’ll already be on your footage locked to it. You can record on the zoom as a backup of course. To answer your other question, Final Slut works fine with 16bit as most large video cameras produce that. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

Yes, you guys are so right. I do have another consumer JVC deck that will play different speeds. I was having eject issues with that one but, I guess I can run at least SP cassettes through the big daddy. 🙂
Thanks for the info guys!

October 14, 2009 at 10:28 pm in reply to: Weird Cinemacraft error message, please help!Hi Roman,
I just exported using the Avid template for QT Ref, and unchecked the “Use Avid Codec”. I fixed it, though. I had to uninstall Quicktime, then re-install it. I suspect that must have been what was causing it.

That still didn’t do it. I moved my cable around to every different firewire port available (2 on the express card and one built in port) and it still kept giving me the same error. Really weird. DV Capture, Ulead and other programs see it, just not stupid Avid. AGH!!

Thanks JB. I’ll definitely try that. It figures that could be it as I just had a similar problem with my desktop and that AV link. For whatever reason it only works on a certain firewire port and not the port that the firewire drive is usually hooked up to. Weird, really weird.
Thanks again! I’ll see what she does after I switch it around.

The Sound Devices are the top of the line for total sound isolation. They’re way better than any noise cancelling cans too. The Sony 7509 are better than the 7506 in that they wrap around your ear better and I think have better drivers. They’re obviously more, but you should take a listen to both if you go with Sony.
Hope that helps!

I love Lectros too. They’re the best bar none. Now, you asked about the Senny Evolution series. I’ve used those too and they work ok. They don’t have diversity though. I’ve also had them act flaky sometimes. For the money though, they aren’t bad if you’re on a tight budget. A lot of guys are using the Sennheisers now. I even see network shows using them. I sold mine though and spent the money for some good Lectro units.
Hope that helps. Feel free to email me any questions!
