Does anyone have a PDF for that old beast? I’m mainly curious if there is a setting that switches playback from SP/EP/SLP because tapes are playing at a really fast speed. I’m trying to just load old VHS tapes into the Avid and output to DVD, but playback is looking squirelly for some reason.

    Thx,
    J

Thinking back to the last time that I used one of these, about 7 years ago, I think that they are only able to playback VHS/SVHS that were recorded in SP speed. I think you might be out of luck trying to use this deck with anything slower than SP.

If you have to, see if you can borrow an old consumer VCR to play back the LP/SLP speed tapes and make a dub into a better format or straight into Avid. I know the quality might not be great, but how good is it really from LP/SLP VHS …

I can confirm Tyler’s comment — SP only on the 7750 series.
    I might recommend finding a Panasonic AG-1980. Multi-speed,
    built-in TBC of sorts.

Yes, you guys are so right. I do have another consumer JVC deck that will play different speeds. I was having eject issues with that one but, I guess I can run at least SP cassettes through the big daddy. 🙂

    Thanks for the info guys!
