I’m with Shane. The P2 workflow has greatly accelerated our post process. We do a lot of work with actors and typical scenes last 30 to 60 seconds. Our workflow with P2, and formerly tape, is to review each circled take and decide whether it should be transferred. With P2 once that decision is made the clip is transferred, and that happens before you can look at the log notes for the next take. We never wait during the P2 ingest process. With tape I’d be sitting around for the (wasted) time it took for the tape to cue and roll for capture. If you transfer long spanned clips, you can add them all to the queue and walk away to do something else. And as Shane says, once the first clip is in you can start your edit.

This could be done in Motion or AE. You could make a number of frames, each sized for the delivery frame size, re-size them all to fit inside a “master” frame then simply move the camera zooming in from one frame to the next. Each frame could be its own composition of group.

I’ve never done this, but after you’ve treated the two clips to isolate the two colors, perhaps, you can key one of them based on its color and then invert the key.

More information is needed. What codec are you editing with? What are your sequence settings? What text generator are you using? Do you have a render line showing?

This might be a case of corrupted media. Checkout Digital Rebellion’s FCS Maintenance Pack. There’s a Corrupt Clip Finder and they have a demo version. Also, using Render Manager, you might try trashing your renders and re-rendering.

That is a very good choice. Its analog I/O has you covered for VHS and Betamax (I haven’t seen one of those for years). And, you can also deal with HD-SDI in/out when you need it.
