I’ve never tried this on a sequence, but maybe nest the sequence and use Time Remap, Reverse, in the Motion tab and see if it works.

If two of the 4 tracks are being summed to a stereo left and 2 to a stereo right track, perhaps the sum of the tracks is causing clipping. As an experiment, nest the 4 tracks and lower the nests audio by 10db and see if the audio still crackles. If not, then you need to lower each tracks level by a few db. It may be trial & error.

The requirements of broadcast audio can be complex and if the job is done out-of-spec your program will be rejected. If it’s something you’d rather not do, find an audio post house in your area and have them do it. The specs you mention are not legal in my experience. But, broadcast organizations do have different specs, so be sure to find out what they are from the broadcaster you’re working with.

As for other uses, I usually mix the audio hot, but not so hot it clips. You might want to do the same for YouTube.

You’re going to have issues with the source material you list, particularly if you want a high-quality look. Motion graphics for broadcast should be done in Motion, AfterFX, etc. That’s what they are designed to do. At the very least make sure your Flash guy uses a stage with 720×480 as the dimensions. The frame rate should be 30fps. This still may not look very good. Flash exports of QTs are for previewing. They’re not meant for high-quality video. Another approach if the size and framerate are good is to use a scan converter to capture the video as it plays on your computer. This quality will be much better, but you need to use a good scan converter.

Drag the gradient generator to the track above the clip you need to fix. Change the Composite Mode (rt-click or ctrl-click to choose Composite Mode) of the generator to Multiply. Now you should see the two frames blended together in your monitor and the Canvas. If you need to move where the black is in the frame, set the Canvas to Image + Wireframe (3rd button to the right on the top edge of the Canvas window). Then with the generator track highlighted (selected) you can click and drag in the Canvas to position the gradient.

In FCP in the Effects Tab > Generators > Render there’s a gradient generator. Works fine. Just tried it. Never knew it was there.

You could use Photoshop to make a gradient matte. Have it go from black on the right to white on the left. Put that on a video track above the problem clip and set the Composite Mode to multiply.

How about zooming up the frame and repositioning the bad side off the screen. Double-click the clip and in the Motion Tab in the Viewer increase the scale. Then in the canvas select Image + Wireframe. That allows you to move the image around in the Canvas.
