I’m not sure I understand your issue, but you can size and position both the tc reader and tc generator. You can nest your entire program and add either to the nest. On my system they don’t have to be rendered.

Mike’s pretty much hit the nail on the head. As far as I know there is no image import, just text. Import File will bring in text you can then format. You can affect each line (or lines) separately by selecting them and then choosing a justification, color, font, font size, drop shadow, etc. and it will only be applied to that line or lines. If you need a background put it on V1. Then put your logo on V2 and finally your Boris 3D text on V3. If you then want to treat the whole thing as a unit, nest the 3 tracks.

Capture Now starts a capture and ESC will stop it. I have no idea why your clips are truncated. In the future be sure to give yourself more pre-roll before action and post-roll after.

You need to convert your HD show to a SD codec that will run on Avid. The first thing to do is ask the shop that will make the DVCAM what Quicktime formats they can read. Then export a QT movie (ref or self-contained)of your show in DVCProHD. Then use Compressor to convert that to an SD version using the QT format the shop can read (DV, DVCPro50, 8-bit uncompressed). Search the COW to find out the specifics of using Compressor to go from HD to SD if you are not familiar with the procedure.

Use MPEG Streamclip to convert the picture without subtitles. Then get the import with subtitles. Put the Streamclip track on V1 and the track with subtitles on V2. Crop V2 so only the subtitle area shows. Align V2 with the picture on V1 if necessary and add some feather. Hopefully that helps.

If you go into the Encoder tab > Extras at the bottom click Multiplexed Mpeg-1/layer 2 Audio the Program Stream. Note that the settings in the Encoder tab jump to rate much higher than those for a SD-DVD and the Stream Usage turns back to Generic. I tried this and the audio and video play together. When you make the DVD I hope there a way for you to limit the data rate. Otherwise, the DVD won’t play. The max data rate for audio plus video on a DVD is 10mbps and practically speaking, most folks have a max video rate of 7.7mbps and audio (ac3) rate of 197kbps.

As long as the path to the clips is exactly the same it should work. That means name the capture drive the same on both systems and all the folders in the same relative place with the same names. Make a simple project with a couple of clips and send it along for the other editor to try. Better to figure that out early in the process.

Try the mixdown. It’s fixed exactly the same problem you’re having for me. If that doesn’t work, try trashing the audio renders and re-rendering. While I’ve never had to do that, I’ve read posts where that’s worked.

I point FCP to my large raid as the capture scratch drive. When I look inside the capture scratch folder there’s a folder for each project. I make folders inside those project folders for graphics, DVD project, or whatever. Of course your captured or transferred clips are in there, too.
