Audio Twilight Zone
Occasionally, when playing back a digitized source track that originated on CD, the IN point for that segment seems to get corrupted.
This has happened multiple times with multiple files in multiple projects.
Typically, the source files come from iTunes, are burned onto a CD, then copied onto the same drives as my other media.
After having played back correctly a thousand times in my segment during editing, a piece of music from one of these files will begin playing from a different spot.
The timecode appears correct, and if I reveal the clip in the Viewer, it plays back fine.
If I try to overwrite the segment using that clip in the Viewer, the problem remains.
If I go back to an earlier cut where the piece played correctly– provided I remembered to duplicate — copy the exact same segment, and then paste it into my latest cut, everything’s peachy.
