Transfering DVCPROHD to DVCAM on another machine
Hello all,
I have a particular issue here and was wondering if you guys might be able to provide me with a little help.
I have a motion picture, shot on the Panasonic Varicam (DVCPROHD), and edited in Final Cut Pro on FCPHD 5.0.4, on a pre-Intel OSX G5 Desktop Mac. The film is being shown in a festival soon, and their preferred methods of display were either HDCAM or DVCAM. Nobody can do HDCAM around here, and it’s a bit expensive where I’ve found people who can do it elsewhere, so I was just going to do DVCAM for now. I have a local place who can do the transfer for me.
My question is this – how best to go about it? The local place uses all Avids. And I don’t have any kind of card in my computer to be able to go out to a deck with, so I can’t bring my deck in.
It seems I’d have to make a file for them that they can open on an AVID. They also told me I should downconvert the project into Standard Def before I came as well. So how would you guys do this? How to best downconvert this movie into one file to bring in on a hard drive for them to do a transfer to DVCAM that can play on a digital projector at a film festival?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
