You can remove one of the tracks if you wish and pan the remaining one center. Or if you select both tracks and opt-L, then whatever you do to the first track will be mirrored on the other. Make sure to pan the tracks center to ensure a mono signal.

  • That’s a chroma key. V1 would have the background, V2 would have the graphic behind him, V3 would be the guy keyed from greenscreen so he appears over the bkg & rear graphic and V4 would have the foreground graphic.

May 18, 2009 at 1:39 pm in reply to: Capture problems

In User Prefs try unchecking “Abort capture on dropped frames.” Also, in Log & Capture you can try changing the Device Control selection to Non-controllable Device in the Capture Settings tab and using Capture Now instead of logging.

Has L&C ever worked with this machine and a different tape? If so, there probably is something wrong with the tape, perhaps bad timecode, control track or dropouts.

It never hurts to trash prefs and repair permissions.

May 17, 2009 at 7:00 pm in reply to: HPX300 scene files

Check with the folks who sold you the camera. They should be able to help you find the scene files. That said, I believe the scene files for the 171, 200 and 500 are very similar, maybe even interchangeable. Perhaps the 300 can share those files. https://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/scene_files_main.asp If you try this, be sure to save the scene files that come with the camera to your SD card, before trying to use new ones. The Scene File Handbooks on Panasonic’s PASS site have detailed information on various parameter settings to create your own scene files. Then you can store them on the SD card.

I don’t know that camera, but own an HPX500 which should have similar menus. On the 500 you have to use the menu to set the camera into the correct mode. I don’y remember the name of the menu (my camera’s at the office), maybe it’s called Other Functions, but it’s the last menu in the list. If you don’t have the user manual you can download it from the Panasonic sute.

How did you try to get the data off the P2?

May 17, 2009 at 6:19 pm in reply to: settings

If you upgrade to FCP6, it will set settings for you. After opening a project, when you drag your first clip to a sequence, if the seq settings are different from your clip, FCP will ask if you want it to change the seq settings to match your clip.

May 17, 2009 at 6:01 pm in reply to: random audio ramping

Were all the tracks captured or transferred at the same time? Do all the clips have the same properties – audio sample rate, codec, frame rate, etc.? Does the speed change happen to an entire clip or just a part? Does the speed actually ramp from normal to fast during the clip or is it constantly fast?

I’ve never used this, but it looks like it might be able to scale a 72 dpi image up to 300 dpi. https://www.benvista.com/main/content/content.php?page=ourproducts&section=photozoompro_1
