    There is probably a very specific way that someone more versed in expressions could suggest but one way to limit the returned value is to use a simple math modifier. Here I’ve halved the return value for the Y property by adding “/2”

    [position[0], just[1]/2]

    This is one way:

    wigfreq = 5; //wiggle frequency
    wigangle = 45; //wiggle amplitude
    wignoise = 3; //octaves of noise
    just = wiggle(wigfreq, wigangle, wignoise);
    [position[0], just[1]] //will wiggle just on Y.

    Hi Pete,
    You need to render the layer out with an alpha channel. In the Render Queue you’ll see a section called OUTPUT MODULE. Under CHANNELS choose RGB + ALPHA and the DEPTH will change to MILLIONS OF COLORS+
    From the COLOR popup I recommend you choose STRAIGHT not PREMULTIPLIED. Keep in mind that you first will need to choose an output format in FORMAT OPTIONS that supports alpha channels; for example the Quicktime ANIMATION codec or perhaps a TGA sequence (32 bit option). Let us know if you need more assistance.

  • I’ve never had a problem combining Magic Bullet deinterlaced footage with interlaced footage. As long as the interlaced footage is correctly interpreted when it goes to tape you’ll have no worries. Keep in mind that any motion in the interlaced footage will playback smoother than motion in the deinterlaced footage.

    This happens because the default render order of Masks, Effects, Transform is switched to Masks, Transform, Effects when a layer’s Continuously Rasterize/Collapse Transformations switch is activated.

    Don’t copy and paste the keyframes to keep the camera in place. Instead make the keyframes at 00:00:01:00 HOLD keyframes (ANIMATION > TOGGLE HOLD KEYFRAME) and see if that fixes your problem.

    Have you considered precomposing the text with the paper, then doing the flip?

    Are you working with really large images? This sometimes happens to me when I have very large Photoshop files. Try changing Maximum RAM usage to 120% and Maximum Ram Cache size to 60% and see if that helps.

    January 3, 2006 at 8:09 pm in reply to: anchor point for Illustrator layers

    When you import the AI file as Composition – Cropped Layers each layer will have it’s anchor point centred in AE as Dave but Dave I’m not sure what you mean when you says the positions will be messed up. The position of the objects should remain exactly as they appear in AI. Keep in mind however, that problems can occur later if you add or move layers in AI and didn’t set up a crop area in your original file. This can cause your original AI layers to shift in AE and will mess up your animation. So when importing as Composition – Cropped Layers, it’s best to always set a crop area.
