    Here’s one way:

    Create a new solid and apply the Timecode effect (EFFECT > VIDEO > TIMECODE). Then reverse the layer by selecting it and pressing COMMAND OPTION R (CONTROL ALT R) on PC. The timecode readout will then be in reverse.

    Try this:

    n=5; //change every 5 frames
    seed=Math.floor(time/(this_comp.frame_duration*n))+1;seed_random(seed,true);
    random(70,95)

    The Adobe booth is the epicentre as far as I’m concerned. Come and say G’day to Zax, Serge and I at the Zaxwerks booth (between Adobe and Avid booths).

    Shooting on green or blue screen is always the best option, otherwise you would need to rotoscope the subject but either way it would be best to have the subject on a separate layer, then you could use the Auto Mask feature (not necessary if you are rotoscoping using masks) and the Stroke effect or you could use the Fill and Matte Tools effects.

    You say that when you view it from the top it “comes back”… I guess that means that when you are looking at it through the active camera it’s laying flat. So maybe you need to rotate the layer on the x axis 90 degrees… I may be way off (no Cinema 4D experience) but that’s the first thing that comes to mind.

    What you choose depends on your output requirements. If you are reimporting the movie choose Lossless with Alpha. You want to keep any prerenders uncompressed so that your final render will be at the highest possible quality.

  • Are you choosing to render with an alpha channel in the Render Queue? In the Output Modules section choose a format that supports an alpha channel, Animation for example, and make sure that the depth is set to Millions of Colors+
