February 19, 2006 at 10:10 pm in reply to: How to extend the bounding box from objects?Create a rectangular path around your object in Illustrator, then select it and choose OBJECT > CROP AREA > MAKE. This will create space around the object. I recommend you make this standard practice and if you want your Illustrator layers to be cropped to their individual sizes you can always use the import COMPOSITION AS CROPPED LAYERS option.
Grow Bounds is okay but can be very slow at higher settings.

The value graph has no handles. There is a work around for accessing the X, Y and Z parameters individually by using the “Separate XYZ Position” animation preset. Type that into the Effects & Presets palette and apply it your layer. It will create 3 Expression Effect sliders that you can adjust individually.
Hope that helps.

February 14, 2006 at 1:22 am in reply to: WORK CRISIS! Project guidlines – please help!Make sure the producers discuss the job with you first before committing to the client. I don’t think you’ll find any guidelines on the subject, it’s all about clear communication and managing expectations. There will always be those jobs where you don’t have time to storyboard – we get them all the time but that’s where your skill as a designer and operator come into play. Sometimes you have to come up with an idea quickly, in broadcast television it’s certainly the nature of what we do. But if it’s obviously a crazy deadline you need to make it clear and offer more reasonable solutions.
