Are you using MP3 files? If so set the block duration length (Preferences > Output) to longer than the length of the audio file.

You can’t capture directly into After Effects. You can however capture indirectly via Premiere Pro if you have the latest video production suite.

There is no quick solution to making the paths Invigorator requires. You could try the tracing feature in Illustrator (Live Trace in CS2) but I find I usually have to go in and adjust the paths manually to get them right. Best case is to get an AI or EPS file from the client if at all possible.

Well a spotlight has point of interest which you can drag around to change the direction of the light, is that pointed at your layer? If you like you can email me the project file (without the footage) and I can take a look (john.dickinson@foxtel.com.au)

Everything you’ve done sounds okay, although the light layer doesn’t necessarily need to be an adjustment layer. Are you sure the spotlight is pointed at your 3D layer? Lights can be a bit tricky to position at first. Maybe you could show us a screenshot which might help…

That’s pretty much how it’s done. But you may like to try this next time: Make a bunch of “empty” layers in your original .psd file and then when you need to add elements use those layers and AE will update them automatically.

Perhaps try Vegas instead of stroke. I did this once where I made a comet with a trail.

Just clarify for anyone reading this now and in the future. The default camera settings are indeed as Sam.mltn has explained. Keep in mind that changes based on the size of the comp you are using so 900 is fine for a 720 x 480 comp but for 720 x 576 for example, the figure is actually 1066.7. As long as you follow the instructions and do a reset everything will look fine.
