You need to be in the Layer panel for the Motion Tracker to work. Do you have the Layer panel open?

Yes, this is a known issue. As far as I’m aware the next point update will handle this. Perhaps try exporting the movie as a TGA sequence using Quicktime Pro (worked for me).

I guess you don’t have Dynamic Link? If not then you’ll have to render the comp. It’s only going to lose quality if you choose a format that compresses the movie. Try something like a tiff or tga sequence or a Quicktime movie using the Animation codec at 100% quality (Lossless files can be very large with no obvious difference).

I recommend you take a close look at Cinema 4D. It integrates well with AE with an approachable interface and a gentler learning curve than apps such as Maya.

Is the click in the original audio? If so AE doesn’t have the tools to remove it but Soundbooth has a nifty feature for removing unwanted sounds.

Have you considered precomposing the wallpaper into a comp with the building then doing the camera move in the main comp?

You may want to consider precomposing sections and rendering out “proxies” for those precomps.
