Not acting like a 3D layer
Posted by Malcolm Desoto on August 16, 2007 at 8:04 pmSo, my camera is moving down the face of this building.
As the camera moves, this victorian wallpaper is supposed to grow on the face of the building.
However, the wallpaper layer is not acting like a 3d layer. Instead of staying put, it just stays in the frame while the camera moves as if it wasn’t a 3d layer.
The 3D layer switch is activated. Any idea what gives?

August 16, 2007 at 8:11 pmHave you considered precomposing the wallpaper into a comp with the building then doing the camera move in the main comp?

August 16, 2007 at 8:22 pmYou have a 2D layer (Bird) separating your 3D layers. This breaks the 3D world into 2 parts. Move it to the top.

August 16, 2007 at 8:32 pmI wish that were the problem.
Even with the bird and camera layers at the top of the order, The wallpaper still will not stay put.
On a side note:
Does the camera’s layer order really matter? In the past I’ve had it near the bottom and it didn’t seem to affect anything.

August 16, 2007 at 8:45 pmOkay, I was wrong. The wallpaper layer actually is moving. It’s just moving very slowly.
As you can see, the mask is now at the top of the frame.
What would cause this slow movement? It’s almost as if it’s trying to pan over the entire image before I scaled it down. I originally brought it into the comp at 3072 X 2304.
I haven’t had any problems with large files in the past.

What do you see when you use a custom view?

August 16, 2007 at 8:48 pmMaybe you moved it really far away to make it small, and as a result, it moves slowly.

August 16, 2007 at 8:52 pmWell, if that were true, it should intersect with my building layer disappear right?
