Yes this can be a real pain. As far as I’m aware, once a ProAnimator project has crashed it is pretty much dead. As a beginner you need to start thinking about ways of working that ensure you have a backup. Things like turning on Auto-Save, doing Incremental backups etc. You can’t work for 4 days on a project without saving incremental versions of your project, if you do you are bound for trouble (as you have discovered) when the project file won’t open.

Perhaps you could do this without rendering using Premiere Pro. Open the AE comp in Premiere Pro via Dynamic Link then choose the Edit in Soundbooth option…

Hmmm, I thought nobody used the Lossless module Steve 😉 (hi mate). On Mac I use the same steps as you have described for Windows.

The best quality will be uncompressed but that will give you huge file sizes. If you are using Quicktime try Animation at 100%. You could also try a Targa sequence.

When you render to fields are you reimporting it into AE to look at it? AE will be separating the fields on import, which will give you a resolution-hit. You may also like to send me the work file so I can take a look.

You’d be better off doing it in After Effects. I’m not aware of this being part of the Dynamic Link setup so you’d be degrading the footage doing it this way.
