Instead of using a slider control, use an angle control. Type your numbers into the angle(it will convert it to degrees, on the effect, but not the number output). Angle doesn’t have a limit like slider does.

I was able to achieve something close to the effect using fractal noise + mosaic in a precomp to drive a displacement map effect on the text. Obviously, my attempt needs some refinement, but it might be a good starting point for you.

I didn’t see anything that would require the use of third-party plugins. Most of the effects looked to be simple wipes, linear & radial(Transitions). The lines looked to be paths with a stroke(Generate) applied to them. Though if I were to do that I would probably use shape layers, little more control.

Is your 4th picture, are you talking about the blur? That looks to be a simple motion blur, you move a layer, turn on motion blur for that layer and turn on motion blur for the composition.

Also, it’s helps a bit more to tell us the timecode of the effect from your video, since it’s motion graphics, it’s easier to see it in motion.

Very strange that it’s not properly linking when you move the files. Every now and then I get things to come in sequentially, but that’s because I have the import as sequence checked. I can’t think of a single time though when I’ve relinked files that changed them to sequential. Glad you worked it out, keep plugging and chugging with AE, it’s tough at the beginning, but it’s a great program.

You may want to check out, Getting started with After Effects (CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6, & CC). Lot of great training links there, a lot of it free.

Nothing in that slideshow is difficult, but depending on the length of your video, it could take a week to do, as there were quite a lot of different transitions/effects mixed together. You might want to go to a site like video hive, do a search for slideshows and just buy one the template slide shows.

Not sure why, but when you are reconnecting, your files are being imported as a sequence, rather than individually. The first thing I would try is to place your .aep file in the same folder with your footage. If that doesn’t work, try starting over, with the file offline, right-click one of the files and use the “replace file with” option and see if that works.

Lastly, if it’s just the four files, you could just bring them in indivdually, select the layer that is missing in your timeline, select the new footage from your project asset panel, then press “cntl + alt + /” This replaces footage from timeline with asset window selection.

After effects looks at the layer before masks/effects, with the set matte effect, so precomp the solid with feather and “Move all attributes into new composition”.

You could make a shape layer “grow” by adding a trim paths animator to your shape layer.
