Not sure how to exactly go about this in AE, but since you know of a way of accomplishing it in photoshop, couldn’t you export a tif sequence, create an action in photoshop that would scale up the way you want and save, then just import into AE and create your animation.

You are correct, it’s a keyframe interpolation issue. If you select all the keyframes and right click you can change the interpolation to linear.

Check the timeline and see if you only have a segment of the work area selected. You can change this by pushing the “end” button and then “n”. That would cause it if you are exporting to .swf.
If you are rendering, in the render settings there is an option under “Time Span” to override the work area and change it to length of comp.Johnny Cuevas, Editor

2) If you are trying to watch in high quality mode, depending on the footage(anything with a GOP structure) you need to transcode it before you can watch it real time. You can change the viewing mode to a lower quality and watch it real time(viewing mode is on the timeline-little colored box)
Have no idea why about the first issue.

What’s happening is you are stretching the video when you bring it into the avid from 320 x 180 to 720×486 1.2 PAR. That’s where you are losing the quality. Avid is fine to export, if the quality is 100% to start, but you’ve already lost quality, you won’t get it back.

Assuming you added those markers for motion tracking. You will use the clone tool to cover up the markers. Put the clone stuff on a seperate layer. Then use your motion tracking data to have the clone/paint footage follow the tracking markers.

You could use the cartoon effect in AE. Adjust the shading and smoothness to say 12.0 and 40. Then just switch to edges.
If you started there and did some compositing you could probably get close to what they did.

Just tried it out and it seems the grid does turn off when you move the camera around.
You could make a fake grid. create a large solid, apply the grid effect, turn it into a 3D layer and put it in the approximate place where the CC Particle grid/floor is located.

Another thing you might want to try is stepping into each color channel, say the green one(might be red or blue, just depends on color information) and setting that as a alpha matte for your text layer. Or try a chromakey effect, sample the grass color and use that as the alpha matte inverted.
It’s possible that neither of these work, it really depends on the color information of your footage, but I’ve used these techniques occasionally and have gotten lucky. Otherwise it’s rotoscoping, get some good music and some coffee.
