I’m by no means an expert on the subject but two years ago we replaced all our 180 and 250 drives with off the shelf 400s. Haven’t had a problem since. I’m thinking of doing the same with 750s when I merge three buildings worth of storage into one. I currently have 5 Xserve raids with 750s and 3 raids with 400s. I’m looking forward to having 8 raids all loaded up with 750 drives.

Make sure you don’t have the system sound output set to the Kona card, that’s always caused us sync issues.

Are these numbered image sequences? If so, import them into Quicktime and export them as QT animation codec if you want to preserve all the quality of the originals
Even if you could import all the stills, your project will behave poorly and take forever to load up. Quicktimes are the way to go.

Were these multiclips you were having problems with? We had to bail on FCP 6 because we found multiclips to be completely broken.

That was too easy, I’ve always been wary of FCP changing frame rates properly, so we never even tried that option.

You’ll have to get some specifics back from your audio guy. We’ve been doing OMFs for audio houses for years now with no major hiccups. The only thing we ever run into as a problem is OMFs can’t be over 2 GB. You’ll get a warning if the file is going to be too big. On a big project we’ll split the show, tracks 1 – 8 in one omf, 9 – 16 in another. Audio guys don’t seem to have a problem merging this together in Protools.

Disconnect the video output from your Dbeta deck to the blackmagic while outputting. It’s a sync/reference issue with the dbeta deck.

It’s a deck sync issue. Along with the audio problem, you’ll probably notice that the error condition lights on the deck are red. If you have both the input and output connected between the deck and the decklink card, you’ll have this problem. Disconnect your output from the deck to the card while recording.

Manufacturers don’t like forums like this. It means they’re discussing potential shortcomings in a public space. When was the last time you saw a response from Apple in the FCP forums? You’ll always get faster responses by emailing them directly.
