Outputting to Digibeta via SDI, I am getting a “condition error” on the Digibeta deck and the audio tracks become distorted – sound hot. The levels are correct coming out of FCP and appear correct on the deck. What’s wierd is that this only happens sometimes and in different parts of the sequence each time. I had this problem 8 months ago and after posting and receiving no help from BMD, a software upgrade seemed to solve the problem (not sure which one, but I think it was to 6.0). This is a BM 10bit NTSC project digitized from the same DigiBeta deck. The audio is perfect coming off the tape and perfect in FCP 2 (6.01). Outputting via SDI to a DSR-1500 DVCam deck via SDI seems to work fine, audio via XLR to Beta seems to work fine and firewire straight out of the FCP works fine, its just the SDI audio to DigiBeta that seems to be a problem. We checked the deck on an Avid and it works fine, so its not the deck and we brought in a second working DigiBeta deck in and had the same problem. Please help.

Do you have blackburst on the digibeta ? (syncsignal). I think I had a similar problem, to a digi, where the sound suddenly just got really distorted after 10 minutes of mastering. Strange thing, it had worked perfectly for 1 year. Got a syncgenerator, hooked it up to the mac and the digi. Everything else worked perfectly after that.

We do have a Blackburst generator, but it wasn’t attached to the DigiBeta. Will try it on Monday. Thanks.

Disconnect the video output from your Dbeta deck to the blackmagic while outputting. It’s a sync/reference issue with the dbeta deck.
