One of the contibutors on this list and over at the Avid-L2 is Bouke Vahl.

Visit his website for this tool (and many others):

Give it a try and see if it helps!

Thanks for this, Terry. I attended a demo of the camera by Sony at my reseller on 1/13, and no one from the reseller nor Sony could tell me anything about the Avid workflow, and whether 25 or 35 was supported or would work. What’s up with that???

I’ve since heard that you can use the Sony utility to make .mxf files (provided you shot at 25 mb) that can be imported into Avid using the old P2 method. I’m hoping for 35 mb support very soon, and would love to hear what you find out about the workflow.

    Bill,

I replied with this to another poster just a few days ago:

Obviously, there are plenty of good books out there, too, but it sounds like you need some hands on time. There are also some good training DVDs from Avid. I don’t see them on the Avid site now; you may want to check for copies on eBay.

    Good luck!

    Try this:

Click on the Xpress Pro HD Tutorial. It’s even delivered with a British accent. 😉

I don’t know of one unless you can output the EDL from the Media 100. If you can, Avid may be able to read the EDL and retain most of your edits.

    Gabriel,

As for question #1, you will pull a better key with the HVX200 at 4:2:2. There is a long thread arguing about a seemingly minor issue in keying with this camera at the Cow P2 Forum. Most agree, however, that great keys can be achieved. I’ve done many with my HVX200 and find them to be very clean if you light the scene correctly and keep all green spill away from the subject.

    Good luck!

January 2, 2008 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Import MP4 file into Avid?

None other than capturing via the HD-SDI out of the camera into Avid via the SDI Mojo (or analog component). But that negates the beauty of importing files versus capturing, eh?

Hopefully Avid is working hard on this one, as FCP will import these now.

How long is the clip? Is it just a sentence or two? If so, you could ADR or re-record the vocal, then add a track of the river and mix the two so it sounds like you intended.

December 29, 2007 at 3:03 am in reply to: DVCam 50 mxf into Avid Media Composer

This version of MC will work with MXF files just fine.

Instead of installing a deck, you could transfer the files via a laptop or other computer to a firewire or USB drive and then transfer them to Unity.

As far as mixing the DV50 and DVX100 files, they will work well on the same timeline if your footage is shot at the same framerate. If they are different, you will have to convert one or the other, as Michael Phillips explains here:
