I am shooting a piece to be edited on Avid Media Composter 2.66. We currently are running off of Unity. I am shooitng DVCam 50 to P2 cards (mxf files) and also on a DVX 100. I know with our system I am unable to load in via firewire and must add a deck to the machine room to load onto Unity. Will I have problems with the mxf files on the version of of Media Composer I am running and do see any other problems that may occur in mixing the media.

thanks and appreciation to anyone with insight.

This version of MC will work with MXF files just fine.

Instead of installing a deck, you could transfer the files via a laptop or other computer to a firewire or USB drive and then transfer them to Unity.

As far as mixing the DV50 and DVX100 files, they will work well on the same timeline if your footage is shot at the same framerate. If they are different, you will have to convert one or the other, as Michael Phillips explains here:
