True. The good producers seem to be getting fewer and further between. It makes you appreciate the good ones. I worked with an old film guy who only allowed me 2 dissolves per show. Fade up and fade out. Everything else was a cut. I learned a lot from that man.
Yes, but if you know what you’re doing, would you choose a Casio or the Steinway. Yes, talent matters more than anything, but pros also know how to choose their tools. Any good concept can be made better with the best technology avalible. Fortunately it gets cheaper all the time.
FCP only links to files so you’ll need the project file, which will have any text imbedded in it, captured media, any graphics you’ve made, Motion files, and Livetype files. Make sure all your software versions are the same. (FCP, QT and OS)

Neooffice is an opensource OSX native app ported from openoffice. Works great in 10.4.8. Not sure about Gimp and others, but check the open source web sites. A lot of opensource stuff is getting portted to OSX with mixed success. I tried Scribe (page layout) for OSX. It was pretty sluggish.
