All sounds. QT playback, system sound, web sound, FCP sounds. It makes no difference whether I play system sounds through the card or not – but I cant really see why I shouldnt as it is only the RCA’s

The other advantage of external drives is that if you system melts down you can move easily to a new system and keep working – as you will, of course have backed up your project files elsewhere – idisc is good

Obviously first step is to turn it’s channels up all the way in the sound mixer. You can also boost the global levels – the two on the right. As this will affect the whole project, you may want to export the clip then pull it in again. This will give you the chance to boost it all over again. Though I’m sure that some of the filters will do the same thing – compressor? 3band EQ all the way up?

Many Thanks. I always had it full up. Is there an exact setting for Unity or just about 3/4 way up.

By the way, I am really enjoying “Stop staring and start grading…..” Full Marks!!

You just need to scale up the 4 x 3 footage. Motion tab >scale or just drag the window in the canvas. You will loose about 30% though. You can then pan and scan it a bit by hand as the composition will probably be kuck.

As Jeremy says, this is normal.
Unless you are using, feathers and moves you can get around it by switching “RT” in the timeline to Dynamic. It will look like poopy but will allow you to approximate the relationship between the clips- then render at the end.
