Thanks to all who contributed, It turns out my monitor is not compatible with 25p.
Though I did somehow managed to get it working for a couple of days.

It sounds like you have steady-shot turned on.

Sometimes it happens a minute in, sometimes it will go as far as 5min. I’ve done it with “Create New Clip” ticked and unticked. The trouble is it happens right in the MIDDLE of a clip. I wonder if it is some fire wire issue?

Check that the disc you are playing it back from has enough speed and “headroom”. If it is nearly full you can have problems, especially if it is your start up disc.
Also check that your open windows do not over lap the edge of your monitor. Use the “Arrange Layout ” function to check.
The other thing is to use Disc Utility to repair permissions.
    Best Of LUck.
Now please solve my problem ; )

    Ah.
    Still “twin lens” though.
Resulting in a loss of light and clarity,
    if I am not mistaken

    Thanks,
So in my perfect world I will buy a relay lens – which will (re)invert the image whilst retaining the original characteristics of the lens attached to it.
Nice. Where can I get one?

At the risk of sounding dim.
    What is the relay lens?

Great stuff, nice pics and a good blog.
    Very informative.
I suppose what I’d really like is to dispose of a “twin lens system”
ie get an adaptor that will alow me to mount lenses straight onto the EX3, while
retaining the depth of field characteristics if the prime/35mm lens.
