Strange problem I’ve never seen before in FCP. When I scrub through the timeline, or leave the time indicator on a frame, all I get is a white screen in my canvas viewer (audio still comes through though). But when I press play in the timeline, everything plays back fine in the canvas until I press stop – back to white screen.

My AJA card displays everything just fine on my CC monitor – stopped, scrubbing, or playing – but because there’s a lag going frame by frame I can’t use it for tight editing. Also, individual clips display fine in my viewer window whether they are playing or stopped. This problem appears to be isolated to the canvas.

I’ve tried different codecs and turning off my AJA output (computer monitor only mode) with no success. The only other thing that’s been a little strange is I’ve been having more dropped frames than usual, even though my disk speed is more than enough to play back ProRes footage.

Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem or can think of a solution.

Here are my specs: MacPro 8-core 2.93GHz 16GB RAM, OSX 10.6.5, FCP 7.0.3, AJA Kona LHe v8.0

    Thanks,

    -Evan

    Hi Evan,

At the top of your canvas you have three little menu’s, the one on the right has settings such as image/wireframe and such. The problem could be that you have selected to view the alpha-channel instead of RGB.

    Hope it’s this easy!
