I tried searching the posts but had no results…I opened a project that I have been working on and today I encountered playback problems: it stutters, plays a few frames, turns black (no image) stutters. This happens in the viewer and timeline I opened the captured files directly in QT and they playback correctly.

    I have FCP 6.0.4 QT 7.5.5 (249.13) on G5 4GB RAM Dual 2.5 GHZ OS 10.5.5
The footage was shot on a Canon XHA1 at 30F HDV
When I open it in QT inspector it shows as Apple HDV 1080p 30, 1440×1080

Is there any other info that you might need to help me solve this problem?
I haven’t updated any software recently or made any other changes that I can remember.I have tried rebooting and closing all programs except FCP but really have no clue what to try next.

Check that the disc you are playing it back from has enough speed and “headroom”. If it is nearly full you can have problems, especially if it is your start up disc.
Also check that your open windows do not over lap the edge of your monitor. Use the “Arrange Layout ” function to check.
The other thing is to use Disc Utility to repair permissions.
    Best Of LUck.
Now please solve my problem ; )
