You are correct about them using forums to look for answers but they are not the only ones who do that. Actually it is now quite common and frustrating to call tech support and be told to search for a workaround from the public. We are used at the beta testers…

I don’t know enough about windows 7 to advise but most likely it is a Vegas problem especially with the machine you are running. You’ve done all I would have done….turn services off,,,clean boot etc to no avail. Sorry I don’t have an answer for you but when you find the answer please post it for the rest of us.

You are very right about this and it would be great to solicit and upgrade with a feature like this. Also it would be great if you could look at the history and just undo or redo a particular spot and not have it affect the rest of the project.

I’ve not had a whole lot of luck with the multi cam selection. Before that was an option and still today all I do is create using track motion a template that divides up the preview window into the amount of cameras I have. Might not be the most efficient way but it certainly is easy and avoids the very issue you are talking about.

I prepare and match all my menu video and such in Vegas and have never had DVDA compress them. That’s interesting….I don’t use any of their buttons as I create my own in Vegas including all animations. The only thing I have to use is the highlight for them. I’ll have to test this one…

You can move the markers by clicking and dragging them. Don’t know why they would be off in the render process as I have never had that problem. Let us know.

This is always an interesting topic for me and one that really is quite frustrating on so many levels. My editing history started in the audio field in the studio way back when. It was all Mac and pretty much as I recall ONLY mac. They had the niche and charged on the average 3-4 times the price for everything connected to it. The software we used back than in the early 80’s cost a couple of thousand dollars not to mention the computer. But it was the only game in town and as mentioned before Apple’s strategy is to market, market , market. It was a great tool but costly until the PC world caught up and directly competed with them in the desktop publishing world.
Studios built their systems and trained their people around the MAC, same exact thing happened with video editing. Walk into an Apple store and you can see how much they sell you on the WOW factor. The reality is today a MAC is really a PC….except for the operating system. Apple almost lost the market and had to regroup or face extinction because they refused to share. Apple has to figure out a way to eke out every right and penny from anything with their name on it.
Case in point…
IPOD…owned a 4 GIG Nano I thought would great for saving my music files but I could not take them back off. Nothing in their literature said anything about it until…..I found a one line blurb in small print that said you could not. Wonder how many people bought the thing and had the same problem. Not long after that however a IPOD rip was available and then of course MP3 players…again at a fraction of the price.
Look at the iPhone and iTouch…the same price for both and one is not a phone. This is Apple’s mentality and they prey on our desire for the shiny penny.

The end product is what counts and unfortunately you still have people who think if it does not come from a MAC it must be sub par.

The bottom line is if you want to share and seek jobs you will have to learn FCP. My money these days is very carefully metered out and the WOW factor leaves a hole in the pocket.

Sorry so long winded but this is the flip side of the coin.

Thanks for the info but I think the original files stored on the EX1 are gone. Do these files transfer automatically from the camera? I’ve researched this and found that the culprit seems to be the INTEGER BIG Endian Timecode codec. It is specifically used in FCP and for the camera. But again lots of other posts show no problem with seeing the files and dropping them on the timeline. I also read to use Slipstream and convert them. That does not work either as it also does not show the video just the audio. The last effort at this point unless there are some other suggestions is to ask those files to be rendered to something else. (Long process) But will that codec still apply? Had this problem with P2 cards and the MXF file format. Hope this clears up some of the mess.

Sure did….there is no feature that I see that allows the actual shape of the video to be changed. What I am looking to do is create curved panels of video than can also follow a plotted path. I know you can keyframe paths and such but that does not perform the task I need. Hope this makes it clear. Thanks..
