  • DVD Architect wants to recompress

I’m wanting to burn my project onto a DVD, but I keep getting a message saying that DVD Architect wants to recompress the menu. It says that “Asset contains composited graphics”. What does this mean?

I know that if I just click OK, DVDA will go ahead and recompress, and burn it to the disc just fine, but I am just curious what exactly it is wanting to recompress, and if there’s anything I can do differently so it won’t need to recompress for future projects.

    Thanks for the help!

The exclamation point beside the word Menu tells me that’s where the problem is.
    Is this an animated menu?

I’m using a video for the background media. Would that be where the problem is?

Other than that, nothing is animated. The only thing on the menu would be the buttons, and they are just static text.

I guarantee that’s why it wants to recompress.
The DVDA manual says that any background video must match the project video format or it will be recompressed so make sure that it does indeed match.
I vaguely recall reading somewhere that video for menus should be in progressive mode so that’s something else to consider.
The bottom line is that only the menu needs to be recompressed and, since it’s quite small, it shouldn’t take long at all.
    The choice is yours.

    The Menu will A L W A Y S re-compress.

When you add a video to the time line the menu HAS TO BE rebuilt to include that video…. which is why it re-compresses. Anytime you build a dvd or blu ray with a menu system included it will re-compress because the menu is actually have to be CONSTRUCTED by dvda.

I prepare and match all my menu video and such in Vegas and have never had DVDA compress them. That’s interesting….I don’t use any of their buttons as I create my own in Vegas including all animations. The only thing I have to use is the highlight for them. I’ll have to test this one…

    >>>That’s interesting….I don’t use any of their buttons as I create my own in Vegas including all animations.<<< This is why you don't re-compress... You're not asking DVDa to add a composting layer to your original work (the buttons).
