Is your friend an authorized NewBlueFX dealer? If so you can contact NewBlue for help. If not, I recommend you uninstall anything that you didn’t legally pay for and purchase the FX you need from NewBlue. Then you can ask them for technical support. 😉
I use NewBlueFX all the time and none of my Sony FX have been affected. Where did your friend get these from? It if was a “questionable” source, you have your answer as to what may have gone wrong.
At a minimum, I would uninstall whatever you installed to see if your Sony FX come back. If not, restore your system to an earlier point (using System Restore) or from a recent backup.

December 7, 2009 at 5:58 pmhello,
you see the thing was, that they were all working fine until i moved them into the sony vegas folder, and then i opened vegas and they were all gone, apart from the newbluefx ones.. 🙁
He gave them to me from a torrent.. :/
It seems the regular FX are still in the sony folder, just not on the program..
I did download a trial version of newblue too, and both versions of newblue are on there, just not the normal video fx! :[
The trial fx from newblue are in a specific folder.. should i move the torrent application files to that folder instead? :/

No one else is saying it so I will.
You got what you deserved when you did this.
It’s been mentioned here numerous times to ONLY use legitimate software from a reputable vendor.
I sure hope you have a restore point or an image to roll back to and good anti-virus and malware & spyware programs to check your computer. -

Until you do that, all bets are off on getting this working properly.

December 7, 2009 at 6:38 pmhmm i’ll try that, should i restor from installation of sony vegas or one before that?

December 7, 2009 at 6:43 pmYou can try going back to the one before the torrent installation.
If that doesn’t work, then you’ll have to go further back.
You already have or can easily get your current version of Vegas so it won’t be an issue if you have to re-install it.
Remember to re-boot between changes and good luck with it. -

December 7, 2009 at 7:46 pm… and tell your friend he ought not to pirate other peoples’ work. Yeah, it’s only mostly illegal/kind of a gray area to those that do it, but the real issue is that it shafts the companies line NewBlue that work really hard to get a great product out to people. Does it Affect the giants like Adobe? Maybe a little, but the smaller guys really feel it. Either way, it’s not good karma.
*not a personal critique on you or anything, but I just feel rather strongly about the topic.

What in the world does that mean? What did you “move into the sony vegas folder”? You shouldn’t be moving ANYTHING into the “sony vegas folder”.
Proper installation of NewBlue plugins purchased directly from NewBlue will NOT cause issues like this. I don’t know exactly what you did but it definitely wasn’t because of valid effects from NewBlue.
