In the past, I’ve done it once or twice, but only controlled one deck, then looped picture, sound and timecode through to the other. I don’t know how to control two decks from Avid.

If you have MC4, just open a PAL project and open the bin containing the NTSC footage. Toss them in a sequence and they will have RT motion adapters applied to them automatically. If you want, you can promote the motion adapters to Timewarp effects, and change the preference from Blended Interpolated to something else.

That’s probably because you have to save your current workspace once having aligned all windows as you like them.

BCC has the (among others) the Damaged Film effect, which will let you add grain, jitter, dust, scratches, hairs, etc.
BCC comes bundled with MC, and is also part of the 3rd party application bundle that Avid sell (for very little money) on their webstore. -
Xpress Pro was never tested nor qualified to run under Windows Vista or 7. I would seriously doubt this could work at all.
When running Avid software, one should stick to the system requirements religiously. Of importance are OS version, QT version and NVIDIA driver version.

Did you capture as HDV as well? Are you in a Thin Raster project?
You might have some luck transcoding the HDV clips to DNxHD full raster. -
Not really. Although I always playout tapes with countdown clocks that contain a circle (so it’s more easy to tell) as well as the format designation (16F16, 16L12 and so forth).
