Export your animation with a codec that supports alpha–I use either Animation or Avid codec–with Depth set to Millions of Colors+, Channels set to RGB+Alpha, and Color set to Straight(Unmatted). Then just import into the Avid like you would a normal movie.

    Hi,
I think it’s real paint being splattered and dripped, shot on glass or with white paint on a black background and using Luma Key. Do a Cow search for Paint Splatter. I’ve seen many different solutions suggested.

What would that quick expression be, if you don’t mind me asking?

I have to agree with Peter 100%. Make it look like the bad quality is intentional.

June 20, 2005 at 1:27 am in reply to: Animated Text Presets

    Hey Brian,
After you apply the preset, go under the ANIMATOR 1, RANGE SELECTOR 1. and change the X POSITION value to a negative. If you scrub that setting (including the Y POSITION) you’ll see where the text will start from before animating on.

Whenever you apply a text preset type UU and you’ll see all the parameters that that preset has changed. That usually gets you started if you want to vary the preset at all.

    Hope that helps,
    Jim

June 15, 2005 at 12:26 am in reply to: DVD Flicker

I think I figured out what went wrong. The clip in question was 720×480 DV25 and that’s the way I imported it into Avid. Avid is 720×486, and when I exported the timeline and brought it into Sorenson, I chopped off the top 6 lines to compensate for the 480 DVD aspect ration as usual. Well, that one clip was already 480 so I think I screwed it up when I did that. So hard to keep everything straight!
