I burned my demo reel to a DVD and there’s one clip that flickers whenever there’s motion. However, the same clip plays fine on VHS. Any idea what the prooblem is or how I can resolve this. I’m exporting from Avid as a QT Reference, then compressing in Sorenson 4.1, then burning with Nero.

    Thanks in advance.

I think I figured out what went wrong. The clip in question was 720×480 DV25 and that’s the way I imported it into Avid. Avid is 720×486, and when I exported the timeline and brought it into Sorenson, I chopped off the top 6 lines to compensate for the 480 DVD aspect ration as usual. Well, that one clip was already 480 so I think I screwed it up when I did that. So hard to keep everything straight!

It is quite surprising that the encoder even accepted a source that was 6 lines “too low”.

Btw: If you chop off 6 lines from one side (as you did) or 2 from one side an 4 from the other, the field order stays unchanged. But if you would remove 3 lines from each side, the field order is inverted.
