If I own adobe CS6 production premium, and have also in addition purchased a Cloud version of the creative suite, will that allow me to use both the Cloud version and the boxed version on 2 machines at the same time?

We’ve edited about a dozen 1 hour shows shot on a mix of XDCAM EX, GoPro and DSLR cameras and it works great. The GoPro footage for some reason or other is a little hinky in PP, so we use GoPro CineForm studio to transcode it. Not always, but the clips play smoother on the timeline. Used both XDCAM EX timeline and Pro Res.

To an extent Dave is right in that you should shoot the sharpest video you can. On the other hand with Canon DSLR’s specifically we do shoot with the in camera sharpening set at “)” and sharpen in post. Mike’s advice is good, but you need to experiment to see what works best for you and your particular camera. The results of sharpening in CS6 correctly will be much better than you can achieve with in camera sharpening.

Realistically there is no magic solution or formula that I know of for sharpening, though there are many, many more out there more experienced than me. I’ve only been shooting DSLR footage for the last couple of years and before that for 45 year was very much in the Dave LaRonde school of film making. Shoot it correctly and you don’t need to worry about it, however with the new generation of large sensor acquisition that is not so true anymore in some respects.

Although when I was shooting back and white negative and developing it by hand in a rack & tank lab, we could do some pretty amazing things in the dark room…wow…that was more than a couple years ago 🙂

We’ve had excellent luck with the warp stabilizer in AE and PP, but as has been mentioned by others there’s a limit beyond which the results aren’t satisfactory.

We’ve tried a number of different stabilizing software and the Warp Stabilizer gives us the best results.

We’re ingesting and editing EX-3 files all the time in PP 6.0.2 with no added drivers from Sony. Are you sure you dragged or copied the BPAV folder correctly. When you import into PP you should have a dialogue box appear that a certain number of files were not imported, then once you click “OK” on that box the video should be in your project.

This is working on laptop and 12 core mac.

How did you get the files into your system?

I too would like to add that I’m very pleased with Premier Pro CA6. I switched from FCP7 early this year and of course there are adjustments, but I find it far more stable than FCP7. I’m editing 50 minute shows with mixed formats and just the time savings in PP’s ability to ingest a variety of formats without conversion is well worth the money.

Are there a few issues? Sure, but they pale in comparison to the advantages.
