Red Giant Colorsuite II conflict with PP 7
This is the first show I’ve used MBL & Colorista and I love the effects and controls. However I put finishing touches on one hour show Friday night, shut down & when I restarted Sat morning, Premier CC crashed and I couldn’t get it to open my finished show. Tried opening two different autosaves of same project with no success, even got one off my time machine and it too wouldn’t open.
The only thing that would allow me to open the project was to uninstall the Colorsuite. The project opens fine without Colorsuite II installed. I reinstalled Colorsuite II, project will not open, so I uninstalled again and now must go through an hour show for color correction using the standard PP color correction tools.
Has anyone run into this before? Is there a solution other than that I’ve tried?

I’m running into a LOT of Serious Errors when using Magic Bullet Looks with Premiere Pro CC. I’ve been sending a ton of crash logs to Red Giant. I know I’m not alone with these issues although I’ve never had a project not open up.
Generally it’s Looks that is causing the issue so my suggestion would be to try and install JUST Colorista. I’ve not had any issues with that tool. Try opening the project with your media array turned off so none of the media loads and disable Looks on all of your shots. Then quit, turn on the array and see if that helps.
Generally we send all our shows through to Resolve but Looks / Colorista is nice when you just want to stay in PP.

Thanks for the quick reply. Couldn’t get the project to come back with both MBL and Colorista II, though I did get it to open with Colorista only, so that saved me a bunch of time.
Thanks so much. Your advice helped me save a lot of time saving some of my CC work.
Does resolve work on long form (50 min shows)? Adobe’s CC is worthless for anything longer than a minute or few.

Yeah, it’s been used on feature films for about 30 years now. We use it for everything broadcast here. Looks is only used for corporate stuff and non broadcast sizzles.

Yep. In the early days of practical HD for the common man we shot everything so that it didn’t need a grade. (We bought the first HD camera & deck that Panasonic ever sold in the world in ‘2000) have been learning ever since the beta tests of Cinewave in ‘2000 as I know you have as well.
Anyway, I was referring to “Adobe’s Speedgrade re long form which is not a reality. We don’t have the luxury/budget of going out to Resolve for a CC, though it would be great. We finance everything ourselves and therefore are beholding to no one, but of course “pay the price”.

I don’t use SpeedGrade simply due to the DPX workflow which is clunky in my opinion. It’s getting better but not there yet.

Resolve is free. All you need is a good reference monitor.

I must admit, I’ve never looked at Resolve, assuming, incorrectly I see, that the free version wouldn’t work. I’ll download it today. We have a good reference monitor,mso that’s not an issue.

I think that the interoperability between PPro and SpeedGrade is far from static.
…and the CC apps are updated periodically, so technically the feature layout can change any day…maybe even one day very soon.
