Thanks for all the replies. The boards are in the right slots. Spent some time with Steve at Kona and all we did was do some Mac repair stuff like verify, then repair, then verify permissions, then trashed the preferences, & zapped the Pram, restarted and it seems to be working fine????

    thx…jw

The problem is that my deck is an AJHD 150 that doesn’t have firewire, I’m just renting this deck for a couple of weeks while mine is in for service.

I need to solve the issue, and I think kona does too. My computeris a dual quad core Mac Pro, so ProRes is supported on this system.

    thx…jw

I tried hooking up the 1200 deck directly to the computer via Firewire, bypassing the Kona card and eliminated the problem, so I think there must be something ‘hinky” with the Kona card in this configuration, or somewhere along the line I’ve done something really stupid and neither I nor the Apple FCP guys can figure it out.

Waiting for a call from Kona right now.

    thx…jw

My understanding from the demo’s and subsequent “one on one” questions is that you can place any format in the browser onto the timeline and it will automatically, presuming your processor is fast enough, convert it to high res.

Nothing was ever mentioned about converting through any cards, so it sounded like you can digitize through firewire, import the files into your browser, place them on the timeline and you have a High res timeline.

Output your 720P project to tape, then recapture at 1080i, using your deck to do the conversion. On my deck which is an HD150 it’s menu item 631 or 2, which you change to convert the 720P to 1080i. Don’t know what it would be on a 12 or 1400. Then record your show to 1080i.

    Works perfectly!

If we’re shooting in 720P we capture at 1080i then edit in 1080i.

John makes a good point about an HD lense for an HD camera. However, test your lense with the camera against the HD lense you’re considering and make your own judgement. In my experience, there are a number of standard definition lenses that perform very well on Panasonic HD cameras. I bought the first Panasonic HD camera sold, and have shot well over 1000 hours of HD footage using both HD lenses and several different SD lenses with extremely satisfactory results with both.

The HD150 deck with the up/down converter card will also convert 720p to 1080i on the fly. It’s menu setting #631.

When this happens do you have any other programs open? I noticed this when we weree trying to do a render in one program and capture in FCP or Decklink. By closing the program and restarting, the propblem went away. That happened with a Panasonic AJHD 150 eck or even recording in capture now with the camera.
