Interestingly enough, that installer never made reference to my graphics card and simply installed from the .dmg.</p>

I&#8217;m guessing that is a change in R24, because I don&#8217;t remember seeing a prior version (at least through R22) that had the Objects dialogue box in that order. Unless I&#8217;m losing my mind it&#8217;s always been PSR as pictured below. And I don&#8217;t know of any preference setting to change it. </p>

<p>I can&#8217;t recreate your issue, at least with older versions of C4D (R19-R22) and simple setups using the Standard or Physical renderers. When I create a hair material, &#8220;Hair Render&#8221; is automatically added and enabled in the Render Settings, and the tracer renders fine both in the Viewport and Picture Viewer. Are you using another renderer?&hellip;</p>

<p>As I look at your images again the fact that the cube&#8217;s polygons are in blue tells me that you were in polygon mode (or edge or point mode) when you grabbed the screenshot. When you select model mode with the cube selected in the object manager you should get the orange outline. If that&#8217;s not happening when you have outlines enabled in&hellip;</p>

You didn&#8217;t have the Luminance channel settings with your original post, but now I see that you are using a cel texture with &#8220;Use Bump&#8221; enabled, and that is what is causing the fizzing effect. The render settings aren&#8217;t an issue. </p>
<p>If you want that grainy shadow look to remain still when the object turns you&#8217;ll need to&hellip;</p>

<p>Since the animation speed and movement settings are both 0 the noise isn&#8217;t animating or moving. If it was you would see the &#8220;fizzing&#8221; effect even when the object wasn&#8217;t turning. What I think is happening is the bump texture catching the light along the edge as the object turns. I can&#8217;t duplicate it with a standard material and renderer&hellip;</p>

If only in this one, then I would guess that the project has gotten corrupted and you could try copying everything into a new project and setting up the render there. </p>

I&#8217;m guessing that welding the sub-points of the objects in the Connect is causing the erratic interactions between the spheres cloned onto them. You can also get rid of that unwanted motion by reducing the &#8220;Tolerance&#8221; setting (.01, for example), but I don&#8217;t think you need to enable Weld at all.</p>
