    QT pro 7.0.4
    Mac OS 10.4.5
    FCP(studio) 5.0.4
    Flip 4 Mac Pro – v 2.02.10
    wmv = 320×240, 6.8MB file size, Duration 1:50
    bit rate = 548, Audio 16bit, sample rate 44k
video date rate 491k, sample size 24bit

The “failed -2126”,I think it’s a bug in the Flip4Mac, my guess is the problem is in transcoding the audio.

    Thanks for your perseverance.

    OK.

    OT Pro 7 – Flip4Mac Pro 2.etc (latest version)
Export, Option DV/DVCPro, Audio 48K, Enter.
    Prompt – Failed -2126

I’ve seen this prompt mentioned often in the Flip4Mac discussion. Their recommendation is to repair permission. I’ve done that, but same results.

BTW I can import the wmv directly into FCP and render it and it will play both audio(a little shakey) and video. A 2 min piece resized from 320×240 to 640×480 takes 17 min on a 1.5 Laptop. Also, outputting to any of the other codec DV stream, AVI etc I get just the video (no audio).

I’ll keep working at it and if I come up with something I’ll post it.

    Thanks again for your insights.

Thanks for you input. I didn’t think QT pro was able to handle wmv, that was why folks were using Flip for Mac.

When I opened Flip for Mac what came up was Quicktime, and since I am using FCP it would have to be QT pro. As mentioned,it did save it as a .mov file but was not usable in FCP at all and only the Video portion was usable in AE. I believe this type of thing also happens w/ mpeg files;that the video will play in FCP, but no audio.

However, I will check the process again. If this does not work out, do you know of any other software (like slipstream for Mpeg) that will convert wmv to QT.

    Thanks again

I second the podcast idea. I am interested in all of the topics to be presented at your meeting. Is the info (DVD,wmv,mp3 etc) something that might be distributed to other FCPUGs around the country?

    Thanks,

I am still playing with the K3, and getting used to all of the codec choices. Using the audio out of the K3 sounds (no pun intended) like the best option.

In the mean time I’ll reset FCP to 5 for the LA

    Thanks

They were fun for about a month. They would often lose connection. I replaced both of them with USBs.

    This is my first Panasonic camera (4 Sony’s – 2 Betas 2-DVs)

So I’m new to Panny’s idiosyncrasies. Also, with anything new who knows what bizarre things might show up?

Thanks for the quick “put my mind at ease” response.

February 27, 2006 at 1:35 pm in reply to: Jan, Gary: Timecode in “Capture Now”?

I have not tried this yet with the HVX200, but using a PD150 (DV)and Avid Express Pro you are able to record to tape and to the laptop with the tape timecode being recorded to the Avid software. Also, if you decide to do a noncontrolable input source the system automatically goes to time of day code (whatever is set on that particular computer.

I would be mnost interested to learn of your results with the FCP system.

I too am rather new to FCP (after 10 yrs of Avid), and am pretty happy with LiveType. I just completed a 10 min project that was primarily text over animated background. The client changed every bit of text several time, and the ability to Ctl Click, Open in Editor, make the changes, Save, and Cmd Tab back to FCP was the easiest workflow I’ve encountered.

    Cheers,
