I have both the AJA IO LA and the Kona 3 attached to my Dual Core Quad 2.5, with a Panasonic 17

    REPLIES BELOW –

The main reason for going with the Kona 3 as opposed to the LHe was the real-time up-conversion from SD to HD.

REPLY – In my opinion, you should have bought the AJA I/O, and not the I/O LA
becuase there ain’t no SDI output on the I/O LA, and that is how you feed the Kona 3.

As I understand it from the K3 Op manual I can output SD component video out of the card to feed my Beta deck.(?) However, if I want to get analog audio out of the K3 (box) I will need a D/A converter (M Audio

    REPLIES below –

As far as I can tell (pg 14) in the Kona Op manual they refer to the component output as the Analog Monitor Output. That is why I posed the question.

REPLY – this is an analog monitoring output. What this means is that if you have a SDI or HDSDI in/out situation, and you want to monitor what you are going, instead of tying up one of the HDSDI outputs (and having to buy a converter), AJA wonderfully provides you with a “free” CAV output to feed an analog component monitor, or a more modern LCD or Plasma with CAV inputs, so it can feed a HD Y Pb Pr analog signal to this monitor. Of course, you can feel free to use this output to feed your Beta VTR as well. It’s EXCELLENT full quality.
