don’t get me started…there are tons of other things they need to do to make premiere a world class editing system.
like…put crop in the motion tab…like fcp7.
make adjusting audio levels easier..like 7.
make track matte key track or not track with a button click. like 7.
make the cursor skinnier. it’s too fat.
make track height smaller. (I use 30 to 40 tracks..the smaller the better.)
make a dissolve or wipe able to be dragged to other clips.
make a dissolve at the end of a clip centered or start or end..like 7
make page turn effect better..it’s cheap looking. I use page turns all the time…had to buy Boris to get a great page turn.
improve wipes.
spend a little time and money giving the many editors transitioning to premiere some better tools.

I will have to say that the ultra key is pretty good.

I agree. I do the same workflow. working on project A….open B to change a text and output an mp4 for client approval…go back to project A….etc. all day long.

another thing that irks me…in fcp7 you can import clips etc. to the browser..use them in your project…toss them away and keep a clean work area and still they are linked to your timeline..premiere cant do that. if you toss away your clips the link is lost to your timeline.

there’s a lot to be done to make premiere more editor friendly.

I’ve had the same problem XMLing fcp7 projects to premiere..usually the audio does not show up. very confusing.

yes you can. but that’s the same as creating a new sequence and making that new sequence the fill for your hole cutter. and yes you can move/zoom/rotate etc. but you are flying blind unless you copy your hole cutter to the new sequence as a reference and make it 20% transparent so you can precisely move your clip or pic. then after you have your move set you have to make invisible the hole cutter on the new sequence. it’s just a lot to go thru to get a really simple effect. I do this kind of effect every day on fcp7. it takes only a few seconds. this is a simple math operation. I don’t understand why premiere has made it so difficult.
we are transitioning to premiere from fcp7 and I find a lot of the great tools missing in premiere. sadly.

yep…that’s the way it works. great if you want to move a pic around on the screen with a shaped matte. but if you want to move the pic behind the matte you are SOL. this works GREAT in fcp7. to make it work in premiere you have to make a new sequence with your pic and make the track matte see that as the fill…and you can move the pic around. but it’s a real pain in the arse and pretty stupid.
I wish they’d fix this and many other things.

yes..maybe like a checkerboard pattern or such.

looks like you could bring your mid-range and black levels down a bit and that might do it.

you’ll probably have to do color correction on both photos and try to reach a happy medium.
