    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your advice. The thing is, we also tested it with the slider running at normal speed, so the shot won’t have to be speeded up. But this also gives the same weird choppy unrealistic look.

We also shot at different shutter speeds 1/80 and 1/250. But the only way we get it smooth is playing back the 99fps composition.

    Any other ideas?

    FIXED IT ALREADY GUYS!

    Damn that was easy actually……

I nested the Scene Comps into one big Scene Montage composition. And I didn’t turn on the collapse transformation switch for the scene layers (as I wasn’t scaling them to more or less than 100%) I thought it wasn’t necessary…..

Turning the collapse transformation switches on just made it work!

    Cheers!

    Hi Hector,

I think I understand what you are saying. I tried something out and I tried to use the same landscape picture which is displayed as a displacement map for the laser. I edited the picture in Photoshop and used the Highpass filter to create the map. Turned out this didn’t really work as I wanted it to work.

Maybe it is an idea to use a slid layer with the fractal noise effect applied as a displacement map? The link below is a little quick test I made. are you looking for something like this?

Just check out the Satellite Earth Zoom Tutorial on Andrew Kramer’s https://www.videocopilot.net.

You can use the web version of google earth to capture screenshots of several zoom levels satellite imagery.

    Good Luck!

Andrew Kramer did a slideshow tutorial once (videocopilot.net) You could just import al images, animate 1 image and the copy those keyframes to all the other layers. Then use the animation assistent to sequence all layers.

    Good luck!

Maybe there is but can’t help you with that.

Well, unfortunately the animation is not quite clear to me. Is the circle seen exactly from the front? Do the clips also spin? Or are the clips just always parallel to the camera?

    Hi Sean,

I think you should first think of what you want to do with the photos exactly. I mean, what is the biggest resolution you need? Etc.

Then I personally find it convenient to do a resize batch in Photoshop. I suppose you know how to do a batch in Photoshop here. You could also use: File > Automation > Fit Image. There you can give Photoshop a certain width & height and will fit all images within these width & height values.

Then you could just load all images in AE. Drag them into the compostion. You can copy the animation keyframes from one of the layers to the other ones. Or just select them all and place them in the right spot.

You could if needed use the Keyframe Assistent to sequence all the layers. (Select all layers > Keyframe Assistant > Sequence Layers)

Hope this info helps! Good Luck!

August 26, 2008 at 9:44 am in reply to: positioning 3 clips on a circel

I’m not sure how you want to position the clips on the circle but eitherway maybe this helps. You could create a null object. Then position the three clips all at the same distance from the anchorpoint of the null layer. Then parent the clips to the null layer. Now when you rotate the null layer the clips will seem to move as like they are on a circle path.

If you want the clips to stay horizontal you could give the rotation an expression which is the negative value of the null object’s rotation value. (Or you could just keyframe this)

Instead of the null object you could also use a circle shape if you want ofcourse.

    Good Luck!

August 25, 2008 at 9:14 pm in reply to: track points outside footage?

You should change the tracking point (the 2 rectangles), butt the little crosshair should stay in the same place as it was in the first section of the motion track. Or you should place it back after moving the rectangles. (I’m not sure, cannot test it nou) But then it should work.
