I’d like to create a fly in to a location on a satellite image, similar to what Google earth pro can do, except I don’t want to pay the $400/year for the occasional use of this effect. I’ve looked for satellite images on the web with medium resolution I could just do a zoom in with AE but I still could not find anything that met my expectations. The satellite image on Google maps seems to be far superior than what’s in Google Earth. Google maps’ image seems to be uniform, and not made up of a patchwork of images like Google Earth. What I need is an image of one state. This is what I’ve been doing with a map I have, but I’m blowing it up over 100%. I think the sat image would look better.

Just check out the Satellite Earth Zoom Tutorial on Andrew Kramer’s https://www.videocopilot.net.

You can use the web version of google earth to capture screenshots of several zoom levels satellite imagery.

    Good Luck!
