  • You could Make a new 1920×1080 pixels HD Composition within your project > then drag the SD Composition into the HD composition and turn on the “Collapse Transformations” Switch. It looks like a litte sun. and it’s next to the Shy Layer switch.

    Good Luck!

Ok, then place the TOP layer above the BG layer, press the toggle switches button and in the dropdown box select Alpha Inverted matte [TOP layer] This will give you the desired look.

    Good Luck!

So the only thing you want to see is the layer with the white squares? OR do you just want to see the background layer on the places where white squares are?

Either way, maybe it helps to say that when you press the toggle Switches / Modes button (in the middle, below the timeline) You get the Mode / Trackmatte dropdownboxes. You might want to try these. Try to set the background’s trackmatte to the Top layer.

    Good luck.

August 25, 2008 at 12:26 pm in reply to: track points outside footage?

    Hi,

In the After Effects Podcast Aharon did an episode about this I guess.
You can also change the trackerpoint within te current motion track. Just motion track using the initial point first, when the selected / tracked point goes off the screen, stop the motion track. (Delete possible faulty tracked points from when the point went off the screen. move / adjust the tracking point to a new position / point to track and finish tracking the rest of the footage.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks!

At first I thought adding all the files to one project file would’t work, that was the reason why I used separate files in the first place, the projects became just to heavy, having loaded all the HD footage.

Did some testing and it works. Thanks!

If you don’t want to buy plugins at the moment. It might be a good idea to study examples of this effect. Like on Youtube you can find several “damaged video” examples. Take the Cloverfield movie trailer.

I think it would be possible to recreate these effects just by using several static partly transparent “damaged / blocks” images. In combination with the time remap effect and some sound effects.

    Good luck!

    Hi Samuel,

I tried something out and it’s definitely going to work with the ECHO effect. Check out this quick 5 min work test video:

    https://www.renessance.nl/supermantitles.mp4

You can just create an outline of the text using illustrator or photoshop. Import it to your project. Just animate the text the way you want. So change the text or camera position. (or scale up the text)

Apply the ECHO effect to the text layer and set Keyframes for the number of echo’s. play around with the opacity of the text layer to get the “shine through effect”

Turn on the motion blur for more realism, and you’re done!

    Good Luck!

    Well,

the only thing I can think of now is that they filmed the persons WITH the earphones in front of a greenscreen.

You can then convert the footage into silhouets bij removing the green background using the keylight plugin and then changing the levels of the footage.

In a duplicate layer of the footage, isolate the white earphones, could be done with keylight also. (The person should have as less white in his clothing as possible.)

Only thing I can think of. Should work though.

Could you add a youtube link to the commercial you are referring to? And what exactly do you want to add?

July 2, 2008 at 5:24 pm in reply to: Panning Effect Across Multiple Polaroids

    Hi Jeff,

I think this is what’s going on, tell me if I’m wrong. You imported the polaroid graphic into AE. Dragged it into the Comp and made a camera. The camera is placed so that the comp is fully in the camera’s field of view. So now you see al of the polaroids that are in the graphic right?

If you want only one polaroid in the camera’s field of view you can do several things. There is one thing though, when you’re going to zoom in to, let’s say to a part of the graphic that holds 1 polaroid. And this part is going to fill the entire screen, the original graphic should be big enough to be able to fit the screen without blowing it up.

    1. You can make the Null object a 3D layer, now you can edit the camera’s position to get closer to the graphic.

2 you can edit the camera’s “zoom” settings in the “Camera Options” dropdown. (Below the Transform settings in the layer)

    Good luck again!
