I usually convert HDV to ProRes, and haven’t seen this before… maybe that’s the problem?

You have to turn on “Mirror on the desktop” for external monitor and canvas/viewer to all play together. It’s in the Audio/video settings under the A/V devices tab. Is this on?

There is no way to batch capture in FCP X…
You could Batch capture in FCP 7, and import the clips in X, but batching tape isn’t supported in X. It’s a tapeless editor actually.

What is the sequence setting, and what are the properties of the source clips?

As long as the taped material is captured as DVCPROHD 720p at the same frame rate as the P2 material, they should match exactly format wise, so no problems in the same sequence.

The clips in the sequence need to be sent to STP and given the treatment you gave the masters.

The frame rates, and frame sizes as well as the codec of both clips have to be identical… they likely aren’t. Read my reply to the earlier thread you started.

In order to avoid rendering, one of the two formats needs to be transcoded to match the the other. Since it’s just a web stream, I’d suggest you down rez the larger files to the same codec used in the smaller ones.
You could then even use multicam to edit the two streams with. Can’t use it unless the clips are of the same format exactly. You could try up rezing the smaller files, but it may result in too much artifact being introduced. Either way, the only way to avoid rendering is getting the two streams to be the same format, codec, frame rate…
