Well that’s not good.. the MP3’s should be transferred to aif’s at 48k..
Post more about the history of the computer… when was the last time you rebuilt the startup disk? Have you ever done that?

I’ll wager the MP3 files are the problem… FCP doesn’t support them at all.

Is the source of the audio all 48k (camera’s audio)? Does it do it if you perform a mixdown too?

Well the good news. It opens. But I’ll bet you have a bad render file there, and it’s possibly associated with the plugins you’ve got going there.
If you take them offline by putting them in another folder, your project file may open. You can try reconnecting them, but that may lose some of them in my experience. The project has 1700+ renders associated with it. Hate to have to re render though. Start and go to bed?

It should be about twice that fast if it’s formatted to be a RAID 0 (which is likely is).
When’s the last time you rebuilt your startup disk. i.e., backed it up, then erase, then install the OS and apps all fresh…? If you simply keep clicking on the “upgrade” button or “update” button for new versions of the OS or FCS, you’ll end up with a system that’s not all that stable and fast.

How are the drives formatted? Raid 0 and Mac OS extended? If not that’s the problem.
