  • The blue bars in the audio clips indicate that their khz isn’t the same as the sequence’s setting… could be why you are out of sync too…

  • Here’s a tip on timeline navigational control.

Type shift + z with the Timeline window active. (Sequence fills the window) Type Z again and the Zoom tool becomes active… Draw a line across the top grey area of the timeline window over the area you want to zoom into. and it will fill the timeline window with just that area when you let go of the mouse. Type a to get back to the mouse pointer.

Then Shift z will again fill the window with the sequence again setting you up for another Z and draw and zoom…

Since you are working on a long project, I’d keep the sequences broken down into different smaller parts… That might help with the navigation…

I think a window burn from FCP is the way to go… it’s RT so would render fast… just add the TC filter, then export a self contained QT movie, don’t bother to render the TC window burn.

Only thing I can think of is log accordingly longer… but DO report this to Apple in the Feedback link in FCP’s Help menu.

Run software update to get the latest with Tiger and QT for starters if you haven’t already.

Then try exporting a non self contained QT movie to Flash MX.

I get extremely nice FLV movies from Sorenson’s Squeeze BTW.. the codec that comes with it is much improved over what came with Flash…

When’s the last time you rebuilt your startup disk? i.e. wiped it after backing it up, then reinstalling from the ground up by doing an erase and install of panther, run software update, then install FCP and run software update again several times to get it all? If you haven’t done this in a while, I’ll wager this will improve things a LOT.

There is an offset for playback in the A/V settings’ Playback Control Tab. Might try adjusting that until the material comes into sync.

How are you monitoring the audio and video in determining this? i.e. is there a capture card involved? Using computer speakers or external speakers with an external video monitor or?

Well lets see here… 1100 for used system replaced 3 times in 3 years costs probably a loss of 2200… so spending the same now would be 3300, then after three years it’s worth about the same as the one you bought last… 1100 so it’s the same. Why go thru the headache of buying used, wondering if the system is OK then reselling it? Plus you get the advantage of superspeed from the get go.
