  • why is my computer bogging down?

okay, i am running a dual 1.8ghz with 10.3.9, 2 gigs of ram, a radeon video card with 256mb ram onboard (think its the 9800) final cut HD, quicktime 7 has been installed. lacie d2’s and porsche firewire harddrives. one hte d2’s is firewire 800, and i have checked them all, so its not a hard drive issue. ive bought a new firewire card, and a new hard drive, still happens

i have 3 tracks synced in my timeline, i just need to intercut them all. i have done this countless times, why all of a sudden, do they play choppy. if i mute the otehr 2 tracks, each track will play perfectly fine, but with all three unmuted, its unusable. like i said, i have done this countless times, i dont know why all of a sudden my computer is bogging down. the footage is all dv, captured with my firewire card from a dsr deck to firewire harddrives.

    help!!!!!!

When’s the last time you rebuilt your startup disk? i.e. wiped it after backing it up, then reinstalling from the ground up by doing an erase and install of panther, run software update, then install FCP and run software update again several times to get it all? If you haven’t done this in a while, I’ll wager this will improve things a LOT.
